Hardware like this has a 3-5 year lifespan-ish. Maybe a bit longer until the failure rate starts to stack up.
I've been in this space for a while, and I don't recall a similar hardware crunch since literally the dotcom era...and I want to say it was specifically for network hardware then like switches.

@heinlenstein@social.vivaldi.net so yes, it's annoying, and yes, it's particularly annoying right now. My take is that this is genuinely a bubble, and we're starting to see the cracks appear. Can you get better mileage by buying yourself and running everything yourself? Maybe? Your mileage definitely will vary depending on your needs.
