First time experimenting with JPEG-XL. I have a large library of archives family photos, both digital originals and scanned prints/slides/negatives. Years ago I’d chosen to scan to lossless PNG. Lossless JXL is a moderate savings over PNG, sub 10%. If you’re willing to do “visually lossless” compression, it’s about 90% savings with no discernible difference. I’m quite hesitant to move to lossy for irreplaceable photos, but it really does look identical to the eye…
