I'd actually love for Mastodon to have a Chronological Feed to appease everyone that has decided This is The Way and a tab or toggle for a Dynamic Feed based on user controllable, comprehensible algorithm options with good defaults. But again, please: Stop calling algorithms evil. It is neither useful nor precise. TWTR and FB and TikTok use their algorithms (and math, and databases) in a coercive manner. I am against manipulation, but I'm pro-algorithm. tiny 🧵end

It's that A piece of tech jargon that "we" kept using with non-tech folk got to be enough of a public issue that the term has effectively been confiscated from the tech community. Plus, the obligatory: you know what they mean, and if you didn't you wouldn't be upset about the mis-use of the word. communication has already occurred. The question is why are you focused on their use of that word and not their actual message?
