I&#39;ve been thinking about it, and I think that one of the reasons that the US is as fucked up as it is is because, at the end of the Civil War, we just let all those soldiers who had fought against us, against the ideals of the US and against the idea that black people were even people... we just let them all go home. And I know why - because the country would have collapsed without them, because it was a good chunk of our population and in order to survive, we needed them back at their jobs making food and whatever. And also, I know that a lot of them didn&#39;t even know what they were doing, really, they were just kids, they were just following orders, etc... but there were also those who were full-throated, completely bought in, absolute Confederate Patriots who were proud of what they did and were treated as heroes when they returned.

But because there was no punishment, no societal shunning, no consequences whatsoever for their actions, we basically infected ourselves with a taint that we have never gotten rid of, and it clearly shows. I think the world as a whole realized that, which is why the Nazi trials were as big of a thing as they were, which is how "just following orders" stopped being a valid excuse. And that's got me thinking... assuming the US is ever able to actually start fighting against this infection again, assuming that there is some sort of miracle where the Democrats and leftists and socialists and Centrists and everybody else all realize that we need to unite or die... and that is a big IF, and also a hell of a run on sentence. But, assuming that DOES happen... what do we do with these MAGA morons?
