Cleaned up my mess from hurriedly closing the pit. As you can see from the nice mud lake, the rain did come yesterday. Quite proud of my work with the grading bucket here. I scraped the dirt off without harming the grass underneath. You don't know how difficult that is until you try :) Put it into two heaps on either end so I can drive sand and cement down the middle, then built supports and hauled in the pouring platform (not depicted here). Basically ready to pour, but of course the forecast says rain for several days ahead ๐Ÿ˜ค #Renovation #Foundation #DIY #MiniExcavator #Grading #Excavator #Dirt

Progress at last. Braved it despite a "Dangerous Thunderstorm Warning" and got lucky. Shovelled ~1000 kg cement and aggregate into the orange hole and poured them down the slot between old foundation and new foam. While I was still cleaning up, the rain came, but once the concrete is done there is only the small slot to cover, so everything is fine. I got soaked but my concrete is safe. Phew! New sand hauling method works ok too. Four heaped grading buckets of wet sand is the maximum. That's plenty for a couple mixer loads. Better than making a mess of the car trailer. #Cement #Foundation #Renovation #Homestead #DIY #Building

@yngmar@social.tchncs.de nice work! I'd probably kill myself with the excavator for the first few hours. ๐Ÿ˜„ When we did concrete around here the guys were saying rain is no issue and indeed to keep it nicely wet to prevent it from heating up too much during the curing.
