I happened to stand up for a screen break this morning and heard some chittering outside the window. There among the lavender flowering and hardenbergia was a rosella. So I zoomed in through the flyscreen and managed to snap a couple of photos, which I went to show the Kids of course. They crept into the study to see and returned, whispering with excitement about the second bird that had just flown in! It's a pair and they're having snacks in the garden! My heart 🥰 #birds #garden #nature #wildlife #bloomscrolling

Thank you all for kindly ignoring the fact that I accidentally wrote 'lavender' instead of 'rosemary' in the post and the alt text 😅

@teadrinker@aus.social Oh, beautiful, being an easterner, I've never seen a Western Rosella. Great capture, and thanks for sharing

@teadrinker@aus.social We've got a mob of eastern rosellas that live on the edge of the village (we think). The little munters always start in on my apples and pears when they're still small and rock hard, so I have to net the trees early. There's still some debate as to whether they arrived here on their own and would hence be regarded as native. I've been hearing them for the past week, so they're active early this year.
