NEW: Hackers have taken down the infrastructure of the Linux-based operating system Ubuntu, and some of its websites.
We verified that updates fail, and developers said the outage is affecting some APIs too.
A group of hacktivists claimed responsibility, saying they used a DDoS-for-hire service.

@lorenzofb Funny. I just updated Ubuntu, and I did the same yesterday, with no issue. Maybe it is a regional issue? The scum who did it seems to have radical Islamist motivation, plenty of cash, and a severe lack of common sense.

@lorenzofb "The *Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq 313 Team* claimed on its Telegram channel that it was to blame for the DDoS attack." I think they spelled MOSAD wrong. Seriously though, if they are using a DDOS-for-hire service. How can they be described as 'hackers'?

@lorenzofb glad I convinced my wife to switch to debian just a couple of days ago.
