We got the shutdown during COVID and I think it scared people because nobody enjoyed that. Accidentally did more to keep people invested in keeping the shitshow going than anything else.

Shit, things weren’t even that bad (compared to now, things were still inexcusably bad) when every other person was prepping/praying for the Zombie Apocalypse/2012/(whatever the comet close call was named).

Just getting silly here, but what if the people who are harmed by the system come together and abolish the system, because they are the majority?

Also because people come together during major crises. And unfortunately, it does not look like we’ll be able to get rid of capitalism (and more importantly capitalists) without either a mass uprising or a devastating catastrophe (like total ecological collapse). Currently we’re about to reach the latter, which I don’t think is preferable, but perhaps it’ll turn out well in the end. I sure hope so.

We’ve hit the point where people find the end of the world is more likely than the end of capitalism

I honestly loved covid. Am I crazy? I got to stay in with my girl, be comfy, work from home, then watch movies and play video games, all with zero fomo.

I was told my entire life that “the apocalypse will set us free” They meant rapture. I have leaned into the idea of it meaning the societal collapse of climate change will bring about liberation.

people use alcohol to escape from certain things. i know people who did the reverse with work, they use work to escape from dealing problems at home.

The problem is that these people are so far away from reality that they think this would benefit them. They have no clue how their live would really be in case of a breakdown when the four horsemen going havoc.

Being hit by a motor vehicle of some sort owned by a large company with deep pockets and suffering a horrific but ultimately temporary injury with absolutely no longer-term health effects that nonetheless results in a seven figure injury settlement

My therapist told me that, in fact, it’s not normal to wish to be hit by a bus on the way to work every morning just so you could escape from going to work.

Watch for when Zombie/apocalypse movies start getting popular again. It’s absolutely a sign of mass despair at “the system”. Zombies make everyone equal again. The executive actually becomes dead weight compared to folks who have spent their lives doing physical or practical labour.
