@cremevax@infosec.exchange I would worry, like you, that opting out is a way to detain people to punish them for opting out, or even give your seat away on full flights. Extra bag inspection made me miss a flight before, when they knew I had not much time to board. They took their sweet ol' time inspecting too.

@huskify@mastodon.world yeah, that is definitely something that happens. It is hard to escape the sense that the federal government causing maximum inconvenience is a feature and not a bug. In this particular case though it was pretty easy and cost-free to opt out. And feels good to assert your rights!
