My theory is that we're socially engineered mainly via social media. I got off Facebook 11 years ago. The people in my community are addicted to it. They don't read anything critical of Facebook because they get their news from Facebook algorithms. The yoga sutras say consciousness is colored by what we expose it to. We're all exposed to effed up social media. There's social pressure to be content & "polite" too.

@FranceskaMann@freeradical.zone @wdjorth@mastodon.online @Epic_Null@infosec.exchange I know dozens of people who stay on facebook because: "my mom's there" "my niece is there" "my gardening group has a forum there, it's really great even if the rest is bad" "my SF book discussions are there" Nice people and the groups are great too. Full of amazing people who are keeping the whole place alive generating value and a reason for everyone else to come there and look at the ads. And huff the propaganda. Really really good people in a bad place.
