@AlisonCreekside@mstdn.ca It's been right there in the Patriot Act for well over a decade. I moved my hosting company three times because the data centre I was at wound up getting purchased by US based companies. OVH might not be perfect, but they don't operate in the US.

@alan@mindly.social @AlisonCreekside@mstdn.ca this is actually about the CLOUD act, which is much worse; it doesn't even require the 'terrorism' pretense to compel data disclosure, any ol subpoena/warrant will do.
