Hey! If you didn't know, Valve takes 30% of every game sale indies make (they actually take less for AAA studios, WTF). The Epic Games Store takes 12% (less than half!) normally, and has announced they are going to be taking 0% on the first million (ha ha), then back to the regular 12%. Amazing. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/news/new-epic-games-store-webshops-and-revenue-share-update

So I am doing a little #gamedev protest, I am putting Moving Houses on the Epic Games Store in the HOPE that if enough indies join, maybe Valve takes notice and lowers their GIGANTIC CUT a little bit. But I need your help to wishlist, share, and make some noise. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/moving-houses-246974

  • @gord@peoplemaking.games It pisses me off that Valve squeezes indies in multiple ways while letting AAA off the hook. And the reason they do that is because they know that they basically have indies captive, while AAA are big enough to leave.

  • @gord@peoplemaking.games I think this is just Epic burning $$$ trying to increase their market share. After that we will start to see anti-developer/customer actions to give a response to shareholders. But yeah, 30% is too much.
