Back of the napkin, I think you'd want at least a 50% raise from your last salary to enable a move to the Bay Area, and it would be a step down in housing. 100% increase might allow for buying an equivalent house in commutable range. Assume you're also looking at San Diego and Boston area, given biotech? You might find similar in Boston re cost/transit/commutes, while San Diego is a bit better.
