Tesla put its breathtakingly ugly Cybercab on Austin streets Thursday: it has no steering wheel, no pedals, and no door handles. Tesla published an emergency guide on its website telling first responders the robotaxi can be pushed to clear a lane, but warns that pushing it over 5mph risks overheating the motor and electric shock. The car must be “caged” before interacting with it. And, “not every high voltage component is labeled.” The guide also says first responders should contact the company “via the car’s communications system or phone… If Tesla cannot be reached by phone, the manual advises first responders to use an email address to learn more about how to move the Tesla and warns, ‘This email is not monitored for emergency requests.’” [NBC News] Nice summary from @violetblue@mastodon.social https://www.patreon.com/violetblue/posts/cybersecurity-8-168939634

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange @violetblue@mastodon.social the correct answer is civil disobedience. Torch these things when you see them. Drive them off the road. Scratch them. Smash their lights and windows. Cut their tyre sidewalls. Nonviolent opposition is over.

  • @adamshostack@infosec.exchange @violetblue@mastodon.social Fundamentally, Tesla isn’t the problem; the problem is the authorities who approved all these completely stupid procedures.

Tesla Cybercab is fun for the whole family Tesla Cybercab rarely breaks down or gets stuck Pushing Tesla Cybercab out of the road may result in electric shock Do not push faster than 5 mph Tesla Cybercab must be "caged" before interacting with it Not every high voltage component of Tesla Cybercab is labeled Contact the Tesla Support hotline before touching Tesla Cybercab Tesla Cybercab may suddenly accelerate to dangerous speeds If Tesla Cybercab begins to emit smoke, seek shelter and cover head If Tesla Cybercab exudes an unknown glowing substance, evacuate the area Do not taunt the Tesla Cybercab

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange @violetblue@mastodon.social I'm looking forward to seeing footage of first responders beating the shit out of these to access people trapped inside. Firefighters especially don't give a solitary fuck about a car that needs moved or broken open.

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange @violetblue@mastodon.social Cue Musk having a fash meltdown because his electric chair on wheels is banned in the rest of the world (but especially the EU).
