To be fair, the Opportunity party policy on this is even worse. They're totally drinking the kool-aid, and planning to give free public money to the #MOLE Training and DataFarming industries;
"... we will introduce a new tax credit scheme.
It will allow claiming back as a tax/credit up to 25% of the cost of rolling/out high-tech solutions such as AI and digital platforms."

This is the kind of corporate welfare Labour regularly disappoints me with.

What would the Strypey party do differently? For a start, extend the moratorium to 3 years - a full Parliamentary term - and call a Citizens' Assembly. To examine all the evidence for the pros and cons of generative models and datacentres, and come up with a robust regulatory framework. Hopefully one informed by what the EU is doing to systematically project their digital sovereignty. But that would be up to the citizens who participate. (3/?) #PolicyNZ
