@only_ohm@mas.to @markstos@urbanists.social I find it hard to believe that an 8yo's ability to catch fish and carry them six miles would be decisive. If nothing else, if you were that desperate you'd find something closer to home for the 8yo to do.

Although I do look at that map and notice that there are three or four quite substantial bodies of water within one or two miles of his home, so there's something odd about why he was walking six miles to go fishing, and that doesn't suggest to me that it was a pure leisure activity.
