right but i'd say the entire sector is a grift
it has no applications, besides as a casino whose selling point is tech hype. it's 2026: nothing useful has been adopted from #cryptocurrency
it started out full of dreams, which is fine. normal. noble even
but there's a lot of that in tech: dead ends
and all cryptocurrency offers now is this endless hype and nothing but harvesting money from the impressionable

But that's orthogonal to the "buy some because it'll only increase in value" hype. Storing value needs a reasonable degree of predictability. It needs to be relatively boring to do so.
