@Hyperlynx@aus.social oh interesting. This certainly qualifies as an unpopular opinion, but that doesn't mean it's not valid.
I tend to see information as important, to know what is happening, even if what is happening is a problem that cannot be solved.
On a personal level, I also want the freedom to express myself, without having the listener try to tell me ways to "fix it." Sometimes, we just want to be heard.

@kimlockhartga@beige.party I find a great deal of "isn't this terrible? Pay attention to it! You should be caring about this, it is your duty" over and over again. I just can't do it anymore. I can't keep getting outaged at outrages that I can't materially do anything to fix. I help where I can, as much as I can, but I have to shut the rest out. I aggressively filter out the news, for instance.
