@Devils_Rancher@beige.party If ever there's a point where nobody owes anybody the fiver, society collapses. I try to live by that. Pay it forward, the perpetual fiver, "be nice to people" - it all pays off in the end. Good on your for trying to change. You'll benefit in no small way by feeling good about the things you do. 2/2

@greem@cyberplace.social I’ve always been at the ready to help move a couch our whatever, and the people I do get close to know that about me, but if you’ve been in the room with me for 5 minutes, or if we’re casually acquainted through mutual friends or something and see each other “around,” I have been piss-poor at showing people that. “How are you doing?” and meaning that, & listening to the response & letting that lead to a conversation is so much richer that just going with “good,” and leaving it at that, not knowing what else to say. That where my comfort zone ends and pushing past it has always been really hard. America has a superficiality problem where people say “call me any time,” but absolutely do not mean it, so I think a big part of it here is getting some traction beyond the rote greeting part & engaing more meaningfully in a way that shows the superficial is not all that’s there.
