I can't believe that the Canadian government shut down the weather radio service. How is anyone supposed to get weather updates outside of a city now? This was an essential service and they just turned it off and told people to use an app, when there is no public telecom operator, and the vast majority of the country doesn't have internet cell service. Absolutely ridiculous. Radios were perfect for this use case. Now you need a sat phone subscription??

@uneabeille@en.osm.town well that gov is run by a very explicit capitalist and his friends and its clear no ones gonna revolt over that, especially now why not cut it off and save themselves a few extra bucks? remember, they only care about themselves.
