As frustrating as it sounds, the taxpayer. Publicly funded elections are the only way to attempt to reign in the corruption of the rich elite within our democracies.

@JugglingWithEggs@mstdn.social So ... I go along to the taxpayer and say "I want to start a new political party, can I have some money please?" Which I then spend buying drinks for my mates down the pub. Perhaps with a "vote for me" notice on the table as window dressing. How does the taxpayer decide which requests to fund and with how much?
