With both the World Cup and Tour de France going on right now I was recently reminded of the single greatest sporting moment of all time: Get the potato in the hole without touching the red green, from s02e01 of Taskamster.

It has everything! Yes, the game is kind of dumb, the rules are arbitrary, the stakes are meaningless, and yet… did you not experience genuine joy when Joe Wilkinson landed that potato in the hole right off like that? The elation! And did you not experience genuine devastation when they showed he just, just, touched the red green? The gut wrench! And it wasn't just you, it was the audience, and me, and all of us together. And the chatter and banter after, utterly pointless and still so entertaining. Sports people. That's sports.
