Broadly speaking, until about six months ago, the general direction of progress in AI-assisted or AI-generated mathematics was largely aligned with all of the goals of mathematical research. Lately, however, current AI optimization objectives have diverged from these goals. Nevertheless, I still believe that with more responsible AI practices, these tools can again align with the goals of mathematical research. In the analogy of the meme, this will allow the AI proof "contestant" to ascend to a higher quality dais of the podium.
