Days like today I get notifications from the power company that there is excessive demand and I should turn off my air conditioning until 7pm; and I wonder: there are at least a dozen data centers within a couple miles of my house; are they turning off their cooling too?

@genecowan@mastodon.social Yeah, it’s all BS where I live. They’ve given out so many building permits that they’re literally out of water. So they sent us a notification to conserve and don’t sprinkle our lawns and if we’re gonna use water, don’t use it between 6 AM and 9 AM. We are in a drought however the stupidity is what got us here.

@Beachbum@mastodon.sdf.org @genecowan@mastodon.social Where I used to live they bugged the heck out of us to save water during a drought, and then raised the service charge to make up the revenue. I think I need a long hot shower to calm my rage.

@genecowan@mastodon.social What if everyone cranked up their A/Cs to fuck with the power being supplied to datacenters? :3c
