@20002ist@thepit.social @kims@mas.to As I understand it (and you should get specific legal advice, etc), there is no affirmative duty to invalidate your previous voter registration when you move, AS LONG AS YOU DON’T ACTUALLY VOTE in the old place. But there may be unpleasant side effects of the old registration, such as being on the jury duty rolls. (Philly has been very slow to remove my voter registration, despite my best efforts, and still calls me for juries every two years).

@20002ist@thepit.social @kims@mas.to Also, there’s generally no way (in any US jurisdiction) to retroactively cancel a regular (non provisional) vote once it’s cast or accepted, since the ballot is de-coupled from the identity of the voter almost immediately.

  • @mattblaze@federate.social @20002ist@thepit.social @kims@mas.to I didn’t realize I was still registered in NYC until they sent me a sample ballot. I called the Board of Elections; they told me to send a letter with my VoterID number, which I did. Side effect: I’ve (mostly) stopped getting texts from NYC candidates asking for support and/or money.
