Comic frames for the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which (no spoilers, it's in the trailer) will feature Spidey teaming up with the Punisher and fighting the Hulk. On the left is The Amazing Spider-Man #328, from November 1989, cover by Todd McFarlane. This issue was part of the Acts of Vengeance crossover, during which Spidey was imbued with immense cosmic powers. Ordinarily an angry Hulk could smash Spidey like a, er, spider, but in this issue our friendly neighborhood wall crawler punches Hulk into orbit. Hulk was gray at this point (for reasons) and apparently the Hulk is much smaller and weaker in his gray form, or at least that's what he'd tell you to try to save face after getting clocked by a puny bug. The green tongue is... an odd coloring choice with no canonical explanation. On the right is The Punisher War Journal from December 1989, cover by Jim Lee. During this era, McFarlane would usually hide little spiders on his ASM covers (there is one on ASM #328, if you can find it) and Jim Lee responded by hiding little skulls on some of his covers for PWJ. The number 3 under his signature indicates how many are hidden. Try to find them all! #comics #comicbooks
