rereleasing an old game such that the majority of the audience is pleased with it seems like a very hard line to walk. i think emulators are by far the best solution from a game preservation standpoint - easier said than done, though.

@spnw@gts.plexwave.org i tend to agree, though some of the 7th gen emulation is very spotty, i think, that will change of course. in theory, i don't necessarily have a problem w/ paying for straight rereleases, if it supports the preservation effort, and games don't grow on trees after all. Nintendo has been known to just upload roms to their store, w/ a hidden emulator running in the background, this seems lazy but also highlights how easy it might be for game publishers to rerelease old stuff. idk.
