This is a very interesting video about the more recent #AnimalFarm animation. Towards the end they discuss how leftists in the UK might have an imperialist-leaning ideology where they are dismissive of the socialism of other nations. This is 100% holding other countries to a higher standard than the West. So it's Iran or Russia or North Korea or China and it's not that there isn't criticism for those countries, it's about acknowledging who are the real threat to world peace. In the video it is mentioned that this distrust of the global south is part of an imperialist mindset but it is also a propaganda technique perpetuated by the #media. Israel's genocide is occupied #Palestine is a good example of that. The #GreenParty adopts a #ZionismIsRacism motion and *all* the narrative is about Jewish (Zionist Jewish) feelings which comes with the question 'Do you believe Israel has a right to exist?' To the media this is more important the to material dangers Palestinians face daily. Now just yesterday someone boosted a Mehdi Hasan comment about Westerners saysing 'If Iran didn't exist ...' So it's inconceivable to imagine no Israel, but the imperialist West can talk freely about eliminating other countries they don't like. So while leftists might be ensnared by imperialist thinking, I think that it is also a way of thinking that is constantly being used in our news outlets.
