I don’t read The Guardian for reasons I’ve covered extensively here previously. Read this one though. I was provoked. In starting to think the main purpose of opinion pieces is to provoke outrage while showing off precisely how clueless and out of touch the paper’s editorial staff — and cadre of layabout wealthy friends — are. The headphones are precisely for this kind of thing. There’s no such thing as a quick question or harmless interruption. Yes, us AuDHD people notice it but the rest of you struggle with the same issue of getting back on track. You’re not entitled to our ears at any given moment. You know what the rest of us do when we have a question (or thought) spring to our minds and can’t action it immediately? We write a fucking note. As for “management by walking around,” you can feel productive by measuring your deliverables. Make sure your employees know they don’t need to wait for their weekly 1:1. Not doing a weekly 1:1 with each of your reports? Well, I guess we know how you’ve got time for busy work: You’re not doing your damn job. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/aug/09/the-hill-i-will-die-on-earphones-music-humanity-headphones
