I wanted to play around with modern Z-Wave 800-series Radio SoCs and Z-Wave.js, but did not intend to get a ZWA-2 or Sonoff Z-Wave Dongle straight away. After noticing that the components in a ZWA-2, namely the EFR32ZG23 is available as a module by SMLight, I just had to build my own. You can easily use it with Z-Wave.js through the Z-Wave Proxy component in #ESPHome, just like the ZWA-2 does.
