My friends and I (all natal clitoris-havers) all used "ladyboner," growing up to reference female arousal, not just the hardening of the clitoris. The sensation of heat centralizing, wetness forming and moving, sensation spiking, etc., were all extremely noticeable, sometimes to the point of discomfort. But the sensation didn't focus on the clit hardening - it was just one of many things happening.
