There may be several islands of independent (technically) Usenet-like networks, but I am afraid they'll die out with the ones that built them. Not that the under-40s lack the skills, but I guess they aren't interested that much, having seen Usenet only as the cesspool it became. Also, they probably keep to themselves so they don't become Usenet.
