@debby@hear-me.social a library is a good idea, digital sovereignity as well, but I find the nationalist requirements for accepting the books problematic, and that in the minimum incentivize distrust and divizeness within the FOSS community, and will not serve digital sovereignity. An example it can't have books about the Linux kernel, or about Mastodon. @sarahcrgr@journa.host

@DiogoConstantino@masto.pt Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I understand why the “nationalist” gate‑keeping feels risky for FOSS – it can unintentionally sow distrust. It’s worth noting that the group behind the library is fairly new and appears to be a Canadian reaction to the United States’ more aggressive posture. Canada’s population is about **38 million**, compared with roughly **332 million** in the United States, so there’s a real concern about preserving a distinct voice that isn’t simply absorbed by the larger neighbor. Still, excluding core resources like the Linux kernel or Mastodon documentation would be counter‑productive, and the Mastodon account @linuxassociation@mastodon.social is still in its infancy. @sarahcrgr@journa.host
