According to [VN.ai's] report, Midjourney reproduced copyright‑infringing images some 37 % of the time, including of famous characters like Frozen’s Elsa and the Joker.
Midjourney is currently facing a copyright‑infringement lawsuit filed by Disney and NBCUniversal, which alleges that the company routinely flouts copyright laws by generating images with popular characters. This latest report indicates that Midjourney has not significantly improved its performance since the lawsuit was filed 18 months ago.

@ljwrites@writeout.ink it continues to be so distressing that this monstrous world-destroying tech is good at...stealing, creating spam, and being a computer virus. I continue to wonder: *why* are so many governments so damn enchanted by it? It feels like it must only be greed of one kind or another.
