An 8 TB drive attached to my Mac Mini is failing. A replacement costs $329.99. I paid $180 for the same drive less than 2 years ago. The whole "Storage is expensive now!" thing is kind of abstract until you actually need some storage.

@jbaty@social.lol I use an ext Samsung 4TB SSD for my photos. I paid $220 for mine in Aug of ‘23. Now it’s going for $1145! Craziness!
