@fringemagnet@sunny.garden "Wait, forty years? That can't be right. We're still older than Newt, right?" "Mostly."

@fringemagnet@sunny.garden What a great movie this is. I watched it in a theatre back then. I remember getting a VHS tape, copied many times, with some kind of extended cut. A friend of mine and I were huge ALIEN(s) fans. Later I was able to buy a legal copy, but the cut was rough. In the 1990s, I visited London a few times. Down in the basement of the Trocadero Centre (HMV, Sega Arcade, etc.) was an ALIENS ride of some kind. Not a ride. You walk through it. It was huge! We were thrilled. It was awesome ...

@fringemagnet@sunny.garden Rare 1980s mainstream movie that passes the Bechdel test.

@fringemagnet@sunny.garden My best friend and I (born 85 and 86, respectively) loved this movie and were absolutely way too young to be allowed to watch it. For some bizarre reason Aliens toys and comic books were heavily marketed to kids back in the early 90s, so we had all these toys and used our SuperSoakers as pulse rifles while quoting the film. I was always Hicks and he was Hudson. Image these 8 year olds walking around yelling “YOU WANT SOME OF THIS MOTHERFUCKER?!” 😂
