@AbramKedge@beige.party I feel like the act of writing something down or taking a note is an integral part of remembering and processing information. In fact, reading the note is far less important than writing it. I cannot imagine not taking notes in a meeting and expecting to remember anything an hour later.

@drahardja@sfba.social I think you've hit the nail on the head - it's that moment of focus. For a brief time you're not thinking about what you're going to say next while waiting for someone to stop talking, you're thinking about what you thought was important enough to make a note.

@drahardja@sfba.social It does not please me at all, that 1984's Winston Smith writing with a pen in a secret diary, in order to have thoughts of his own, is where we are at! It does not please me that 1984's telescreens came true, the part about how one never knew when one was being watched!

@drahardja@sfba.social @AbramKedge@beige.party it's the Field Notes notebook slogan: "I’m not writing it down to remember it later, I’m writing it down to remember it now." edit: punctuation
