Attempted to ride the Kokopelli Trail this week. Took the train to Grand Junction, Colorado. Rode Fruita to Westwater on Tuesday. Beautiful, but a tough day, with lots of hike-a-bike, 30 mph headwinds, and rain showers. Rained hard all night and through Wednesday in Westwater. Trail became too muddy to ride—with sticky, bentonite clay—so we bailed and just did some day rides on faster-drying trails nearby before heading home again on the train. Failed in our primary objective but still a great trip!
