the diabetic emergency case was quite an effort. it started with someone banging on my door urgently and repeatedly late on a Sunday night. at first, i thought it was the creepy coworker who had been stalking me, which set my heart and brain racing. then i dared to peek through the door peephole. it was actually an elderly man and woman couple looking very worried. so i took a deep breath and opened the door. 1/

their also-elderly friend lived right below me on the ground floor. they hadn't seen her for too long and couldn't raise her on the telephone either. she was a person living with diabetes, pernicious anaemia, and alcoholism. they worried that she might be in a diabetic crisis. they asked me to call Management to open her front door. all i had was a phone number and they didn't answer. the voicemail said to call this pager number. so i did. no response. 5-10 minutes went by. still no response. 2/
