We are doing some work on our house and we have received an invoice from the city that looked legitimate. We forwarded info to the contractor because we did not anticipate this and they were like "DO NOT WIRE MONEY FOR THIS INVOICE OR PAY IN ANY OTHER WAY". Apparently now, with it is even easier to craft believable invoices based on public permit records, use believable letterhead and content, and then scam people into sending money.
