@mattsheffield@mastodon.social I noticed that dude didn't disavow allegiance to Christian Nationalist terrorist organizations of which there are many. Christian nationalism is actually one of the biggest sources of terrorism in the US (and, indeed, much of the world.) I guess since he's Christian, since I didn't hear him disavow it, he must have ties to all of them and thus is a terrorist.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social Mr. El-Sayed is really a masterclass in hearing tried rhetorics, dismantling them, and continuing to push an eloquent discussion moving forward.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social no Christian is such if they place the USA constitution above Christ. No Muslim is truly obedient to Allah if they place the USA constitution above sharia.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social Ah, Josh Hawley, the man known for fist-pumping in support of the Jan 6 protesters and then later running through Congress in fear of them.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social I saw the spirit of Obama in Abdul El-Sayed’s rhetoric… he will go far.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social There are two distractions going on here. Tommy asks a simple question. El-Sayed answers that question unequivocally. Then the El-Sayed turns to the reason Tommy asked the question, implying that as a Muslim El-Sayed would have allegiance to his religion over the constitution, part of the fear the GOP base has about a Muslim candidate so El-Sayed addresses that fear. However Tommy didn’t ask the question because he feared El-Sayed would be more loyal to his religion. Tommy asked the question to distract from the real issues El-Sayed discusses like access to healthcare and money influencing politics. And Tommy asked the question to get El-Sayed to further expand on the simple answer he gave to the question about the Muslim Brotherhood. To get El-Sayed to say stuff. For a soundbite. For just one five second soundbite that can be twisted to sound like just about anything the right wing media wants it to be to frighten voters and not discuss issues.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social But Tommy still answers quite honestly, which make me envious considering how fascists lie through their teeth usually (at least, our fascists here do). What explains that ? Does he still feel shame ?

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social The Republican Party represents the view of radical Christians. These people despise the US constitution.
