If all your friends are your age then yeah sure you'll be stressing about what place you've got in the league of life achievements and what might happen if they don't have time for you any more and what life could possibly be like if things keep changing

I think the romantic ideal of staying a group of school friends forever is honestly not that ideal at all. Community is so much bigger than that.

@vivschwarz@mastodon.art At 63, many of my friends are around my age. I also have people at work younger than my children. I don't feel that they treat me too much like "the old guy in the office" but perhaps they are better mannered than most of our press paint them as! Sometimes they ask me about something and they seem to like that idea - such as travelling to the Middle East, multiculturalism or music. I may have added to the occasional bucket list!
