@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange While I’ll admit that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I am not the dullest. I have read a bit about NFTs, and I never quite get how the risks outweigh the benefits.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange That's extremely unfair to Zuck and overly reductive. He is, after all, also implicated in at least one genocide. The man contains multitudes.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Zuch is taking money from Putin, and other oil oligarchs, to meddle in elections. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/22/facebook-google-twitter-congress-hearing-trump-russia-election https://energyandpolicy.org/utility-front-groups-spending-on-disinformation-advertising/ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c72p1dr0mk8o https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/12/russia-hackers-journalism-press-freedom-troll-factory/549422/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/facebook-says-it-sold-political-ads-to-russian-company-during-2016-election/2017/09/06/32f01fd2-931e-11e7-89fa-bb822a46da5b_story.html https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02-19/climate-disinformation-senate-committee-dr-karl-atlas-network/106350002 https://www.axios.com/2021/07/09/facebook-book-russia-zuckerberg-sandberg https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46590890 https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/oct/21/facebook-us-2020-elections-foreign-interference-russia https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/01/technology/facebook-russia-disinformation-election.html https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/29/technology/election-interference-russia-china-iran.html https://bylinetimes.com/2024/09/06/russia-allegedly-funded-us-media-company-spreading-misinformation/ https://www.eenews.net/articles/meta-invites-climate-disinformation-by-tossing-fact-checkers/ "Modest efforts" by Meta got Trump re-elected https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/12/3/meta-says-ai-had-only-modest-impact-on-global-elections-in-2024

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I have a ZX Spectrum + in the same situation, it has been sitting there waiting for its surgery for a year or two. It's in perfect mint condition, which is somewhat rare for Spectrums which one typically assumes was used and abused by kids in the 80s. This one was owned by an adult who ran a small business on it. But at some point the "to snip or not to snip" dilemma becomes a choice between it never being used because anti-ergonomic, or butchered and being used even if not 100% original. The latter tends to extend its life.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I think that LLMs are going to change the world almost as much as NFTs have.
