I use search to find niche research information and it seems like hashtags even on a common topic are varied by user and only display for past 2 days. I'm just trying to understand the strengths and limits of hashtags. So far they seem helpful for broad topics, but not for niche information.

@wendysiegelman@mastodon.social I've also discovered that different instances have different rules. For example, the instance I'm on banned the journa instance that includes many journalists I want to follow. To see their work I've set up an account on another instance. Far from ideal.
