@thejessiekirk @stilgherrian I think 1989 CEE revolutions are more relevant to today, and they all featured: - pop-culture, including what we would call memes today, as a recruitment tool - protests that de-prioritised (but crucially did not rule out) violence, such as general strikes - building their own propaganda with movies, songs, "second circulation" etc. - negotiated compromises that involved going to the polls The Romanians did execute their dictator, but that was an outlier.
