people on Bluesky are saying "Zionist" is anti-semitic, and ok, maybe it is the way Certain People use it, but genuine question: then what's the correct word for the political position of supporting the genocide of Palestine? it's obviously not Jews; "Israelis" has the problem that lots of Israelis **don't** support the genocide, plus it doesn't include Americans and Christian freaks like Mike Huckabee. I feel like Zionists is still a pretty accurate word that covers all the characters, right??

@peter@thepit.social you are right. conflating antizionism with antisemitism is a common zionist deflection tactic

@peter@thepit.social @MaddieM4@raphus.social I suspect it's part of a psyops campaign by the Israeli gov to muddy the waters.

@peter@thepit.social I tend to go for "Israel" or "Israeli government" because that's the entity in action and unfortunately that's the responsibility of Israelis (to varying degrees depending on their role). That's also the entity that they (and the rest of us) need to force to behave. The USA has a similar role, if we didn't have a senile monster leading here the world could be a much better place and I hope we dig our way out before it gets a lot worse.

@peter@thepit.social Sometimes I guess it's just better to use more than one word.
