We can no longer have nice things anymore. Especially on the internet. A few weeks ago I got a video suggested in my feed by an account named @trollmyfriend. The dude was inviting people to jump in "the biggest prank ever on the internet" by having loads of people wish his friend happy birthday, especially since his friend was about to turn 21 (this seems to be a big deal in the US). Dude did not post his friends insta, said he had him blocked too, as well as all his friends that were not into it, so as not to spoil it, until this Monday. Well, what can you tell? This Monday I read the comments and found out the guy turning 21 was a Trump and MAGA supporter, a Charlie Kirk fan and his organization, as well as ICE. I sadly sent that guy a message, even though it was not something wholesome or wholeheartedly (I cannot do this unless it's someone I personally know and deeply care about). Still, even though I joined in only for the lolz (it went actually like a lol, since I sent him some traditional religion-sprinkled wish from my country and the guy was an assumed Christian), I sent a message to him with good intentions. The fact that he's actually the supporter of the most terrible people in power of the biggest and most influent democracy in the world, left me sad. And moreover, maybe it was us who were trolled all along. Those of us who jumped in and tried to have fun online. Given the rampant attacks on people's privacy, given how rampant the whole profiling is, I'm now wondering if the guy was just a decoy, and we were just experiment subjects that others would check see how we react to stuff. I don't know. One thing's for certain: the internet is not fun anymore.
