When I broke off this friendship I really made myself persona non grata. They are super connected in the local queer scene, I am not. Now I can't connect with anybody new, can't go to any event because they'll most likely be there or someone they fucked with. It's so sad, I wasn't leaving the house much already but now I can't even go to this one event I've been looking forward to for a year. Hard to imagine the fact that they kept me away from all their cool new friends for years was a coincidence.
