@susankayequinn@wandering.shop I have no hope that a government agency will do its job and protect us from harmful or defective anything, so I like your hope that market forces will bring a halt to the insanity. Fingers crossed.

@JoelBarr@mastodon.online I have very little hope that market forces will impose discipline, they have failed to so far, with tech valuations completely unhinged from market realities. As grift and corruption often accomplish. The only solution *is* actually government (the collective will of the people expressed via that). The neoliberals and libertarians and especially the tech industry have spent billions and decades convincing everyone that government *can't* contain them. It is not true.
