Optical communication protocols are mostly used in data centers for scale-out networks, connecting many computers across the facility. But soon it’ll be integrated into scale-up networks, connecting several GPUs inside one computer. The demands of connection are quickly surpassing what copper wiring can handle, making optical networks the next big push. https://spectrum.ieee.org/nvlink-fusion-optics?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica-Mastodon-Daily-Pipeline
